New Firebox Fiction - "Moro" by Kathy Fish

Remember when Mondays were a box of Cracker Jacks, but there were very few peanuts, and never a toy? Neither do we. This week's prize inside is Moro by Kathy Fish.

Feel free to comment here. We love hearing from you.

Beautiful. Not a word too much.

I love the image of the sparkling eyeshadow on close eyes, and how it reappears in the end.

This hurt me about as badly as anything I've ever read. The intimate details of the preparation for the picture culminating with the baby slipping on the woman's lap almost convulsed me. That's good, gripping writing.

The best firebox fiction I've read yet. Absolutely stunning. I'll be hunting down that collection when it comes out. Such fine prose.

This is the second story of yours that I've read, and I'm definitely a fan!
Can't quite remember, but didn't it used to be a custom to photograph the dead family member?

Thank you and yes, I believe that's true about the old custom of photographing deceased family members!
