Hi, Rusty, It's been a while since I subbed anything your way. Lately I've been tied up with volunteer projects since retiring but was glad to see you are still publishing Night Train. My writing goal this year has been to write longer short stories since I mainly wrote flash, firebox, in the past. I've got two I've been thinking of subbing your way but I think they're 5K and not 4K. Do you ever accept stories slightly over the limits then if you decide to publish, ask the writer to cut down? RSVP when you can. IF not, I can cut away.
My best,
Paul

Hey Paul--we try to stay pretty close to the 4K. We've published stories longer than that, but all of them were holdover acceptances from when we were a print journal. It would be a rare thing if I ever asked someone to cut that much. I'd be much more tempted to reject it outright.

Rusty, makes sense. I've got one piece with an editor that's 6K and she wants me to cut 2K. I'm going to try it and if I do, and looking on the bright side, if she rejects it, I'll send it your way. It will then be under 4k. LOL.
Take care and more later,
Paul

Just read Kim Henderson's flash. Wow. The beauty and sickness and honesty truly is in the details, isn't it? So much humanity here - gived me the shakes. Right on, Kim! And glad for you to have found this one, Rusty.
